Statewide Verification Drive to Begin from July 20
The Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane Department has announced a comprehensive statewide campaign to verify sugarcane cultivation areas registered on the Smart Ganna Kisan Portal. The verification process will involve matching farmers' declared sugarcane acreage with official land revenue records to improve accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in the state's sugarcane management system.
The verification drive will be conducted from July 20 to August 30, 2026, covering sugarcane-growing regions across Uttar Pradesh.
Digital Cross-Checking of Sugarcane Land Records
According to officials, the department has developed a dedicated software system that will compare the Cultivable Land Area (CLA) registered on the Smart Ganna Kisan Portal with corresponding land revenue records. This initiative aims to eliminate discrepancies in sugarcane acreage data and ensure that records accurately reflect actual cultivation.
The campaign will be implemented throughout the state, with sugarcane department personnel receiving specialized training to carry out the verification process efficiently.
Special Focus on Areas with Previous Complaints
Authorities have identified certain sugarcane-growing regions where a high number of complaints related to cultivation area records were reported in previous seasons. These locations will receive additional scrutiny and monitoring during the verification campaign.
Officials believe that targeted inspections in such areas will help improve the reliability of data and address long-standing concerns raised by farmers and stakeholders.
Support from Local Representatives and Cooperative Leaders
The verification exercise will be conducted with the cooperation of sugarcane development committee chairpersons and local public representatives. Their involvement is expected to facilitate smooth implementation of the campaign and encourage farmer participation.
Upon completion of the verification process, district-level authorities will issue certification confirming the successful validation of cultivation records.
Online Financial Management Module Introduced
In a parallel move to enhance transparency within sugarcane institutions, the department has introduced a specialized online module for monitoring financial and accounting activities of sugarcane committees and development councils.
The platform will enable designated chartered accountants to submit inspection findings, audit observations, compliance reports, and supporting documentation directly through the digital system.
Chartered Accountants to Upload Real-Time Audit Reports
Whenever chartered accountants conduct physical inspections or audits at sugarcane committees and councils, they will be required to record their findings online. The system will support:
- Audit reporting
- Compliance tracking
- Photo uploads
- Geo-tagged inspections
- Digital documentation management
- Online monitoring of corrective actions
To ensure effective implementation, all designated chartered accountants have been provided detailed training on operating the platform, conducting audits, reviewing records, and following digital compliance procedures.
Strengthening Transparency in Uttar Pradesh's Sugarcane Sector
The new verification initiative and online monitoring system reflect Uttar Pradesh's broader efforts to modernize sugarcane administration through technology-driven governance. By integrating digital farmer records with official land data and strengthening financial oversight, the state aims to improve transparency, reduce disputes, and enhance the efficiency of services provided to sugarcane growers.
