UP Government to Verify Smart Sugarcane Farmer Portal Data with Land Records Using API
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Government has introduced a major digital initiative to make the state's sugarcane survey and cane allotment (Satta) process more transparent, accurate, and farmer-friendly. The Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Department will now match the sugarcane cultivation data available on the Smart Sugarcane Farmer Portal with official land revenue records through an Application Programming Interface (API).
The move is expected to improve data accuracy, prevent fraudulent entries, and ensure that only genuine sugarcane farmers receive the benefits of the state's sugarcane management system.
Large Farmers to Be Verified in the First Phase
According to the department, the first phase of the verification drive will focus on farmers cultivating more than one hectare of sugarcane. Officials believe that cross-checking large landholdings first will help identify fake or inflated land records and curb irregularities in the sugarcane survey process.
The API-based verification will compare the area recorded on the Smart Sugarcane Farmer Portal with official land revenue records, ensuring that only eligible farmers and verified cultivation areas remain in the system.
Officials Receive Technical Training
To ensure smooth implementation, the department conducted virtual training sessions for officials and field staff from the Ayodhya, Devipatan, Gorakhpur, and Deoria regions.
Participants included Deputy Sugarcane Commissioners, District Sugarcane Officers, Senior Sugarcane Development Inspectors, Sugarcane Development Inspectors, Secretaries, and Sugarcane Supervisors. The training covered the technical process of data mapping, verification procedures, and timelines for completing the exercise efficiently and transparently.
Digital Verification to Strengthen Transparency
The government believes that integrating the Smart Sugarcane Farmer Portal with land revenue records will significantly improve the reliability of sugarcane surveys and cane supply management.
The initiative is expected to:
- Eliminate fake or duplicate farmer records.
- Improve the accuracy of sugarcane survey data.
- Make cane allotment (Satta) more transparent.
- Strengthen the sugarcane supply and payment system.
- Protect the interests of genuine sugarcane farmers.
Officials also expect the digital verification system to discourage fraudulent practices involving inflated cultivation claims.
Farmers to Receive Details on 63 Survey Parameters
As part of the campaign, farmers will be provided with detailed information on 63 key parameters related to sugarcane surveys and the cane allotment process. The department says this will help farmers better understand their survey records and improve transparency throughout the system.
On-the-Spot Resolution of Farmer Complaints
The department has also announced that any objections or complaints related to sugarcane surveys or cane allotments will be addressed on the spot during the verification campaign. This will reduce the need for farmers to visit departmental offices repeatedly and ensure quicker grievance redressal.
To make the campaign more effective, cooperative sugarcane development societies, local representatives, and committee chairpersons will also be involved in the verification process.

The Uttar Pradesh Government believes that integrating land revenue records with the Smart Sugarcane Farmer Portal through API technology will create a more robust, transparent, and technology-driven sugarcane management system.
