Uttar Pradesh Launches Reward Scheme for Outstanding Sugarcane Growers in 2026-27
Uttar Pradesh: In a major initiative to encourage excellence in sugarcane cultivation, the Uttar Pradesh government has introduced the ‘Ganna Krishak Samman Yojana’ (Sugarcane Farmer Honor Scheme) for the 2026-27 crushing season. The scheme will be implemented through all sugarcane cooperative societies across the state and aims to recognize farmers who have demonstrated outstanding performance in sugarcane production, seed development, natural farming, and cane supply.
According to Yashpal Singh, Deputy Sugarcane Commissioner, Meerut Region, the scheme has been launched by the state government to promote higher productivity, quality seed production, sustainable farming practices, and increased sugarcane supply to mills.
Cash Rewards for Top Farmers
Under the scheme, farmers securing the top three positions in each category will receive cash awards:
- First Prize: ₹10,000
- Second Prize: ₹7,500
- Third Prize: ₹5,000
The winning farmers will also be honored during the general body meetings of their respective sugarcane societies with a shawl, memento, and certificate of appreciation.

3. Natural Farming Category
This category will recognize farmers promoting organic, residue-free, and environmentally friendly sugarcane cultivation practices.
