In a significant initiative promoting fuel conservation, environmental sustainability, and healthy living, the ICAR-Indian Sugarcane Research Institute organised a motivational programme and cycling campaign under the theme “Save Fuel, Save Nation” at its Lucknow campus.

The campaign was inspired by the vision of Narendra Modi encouraging responsible energy conservation and sustainable living practices across the country. The programme aimed to create awareness among employees about adopting eco-friendly habits and strengthening collective responsibility towards environmental protection and nation-building.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. S. N. Sushil emphasized the importance of incorporating sustainable practices into daily life. He highlighted the crucial role of every citizen in conserving fuel, reducing environmental impact, and contributing to a healthier and self-reliant India.

Dr. Sushil encouraged employees to adopt cycling and sustainable modes of transportation while also suggesting routine farm visits and field activities through cycling as a practical step toward fitness, fuel conservation, and environmental awareness.
Abhishek Srivastava also addressed the programme and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of staff members. He stressed the importance of individual responsibility in achieving larger national goals related to sustainability and energy conservation.

During the event, employees collectively took a pledge to actively support fuel conservation, environmental sustainability, and healthy lifestyle practices. Participants also signed a commitment board symbolising their dedication to the “Save Fuel, Save Nation” movement.
To reinforce the campaign’s message, Dr. S. N. Sushil, along with scientists, officers, and staff members, participated in an energetic cycling rally towards the institute’s farm area. The rally promoted awareness about fuel conservation, physical fitness, and environmental consciousness through collective action.
Participants enthusiastically raised slogans supporting the campaign, creating a vibrant atmosphere focused on sustainability and responsible environmental stewardship.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. D. C. Rajak and Dr. Anita Sawnani.
The event concluded on an inspiring note, encouraging employees to adopt sustainable practices and contribute meaningfully towards environmental conservation and nation-building.
