Sugarcane farmers in the area have urged the authorities to allocate sugarcane purchase centres to Rupapur Sugar Mill for the upcoming crushing season. A group of farmers submitted a memorandum to the secretary of the local sugarcane cooperative society, requesting that the existing purchase-centre allocation in favour of Rupapur Sugar Mill be maintained.
The farmers said they supplied their sugarcane to Rupapur Sugar Mill during the 2025-26 crushing season and were satisfied with the arrangements made by the mill. According to the farmers, the mill made weekly payments for their sugarcane on time, while arrangements for loading and transportation at the purchase centres also remained smooth. They said they did not face significant difficulties while supplying their produce to the mill. 
The farmers also highlighted the support provided by Rupapur Sugar Mill for improving sugarcane productivity. They said the mill facilitated the availability of fertilisers and agricultural medicines for farmers. Scientists and agricultural experts also conducted farmer meetings from time to time and provided information on pest and disease management, helping farmers improve crop protection and productivity.
The farmers warned that they would be reluctant to supply sugarcane to mills that create difficulties for them and therefore requested the authorities to allocate the purchase centres to Rupapur Sugar Mill. They appealed to the Sugarcane Commissioner to retain the purchase-centre allocation in favour of Rupapur Sugar Mill, citing the mill’s timely payments, transportation arrangements and agricultural support during the previous crushing season.
