The Bharatiya Kisan Union (Arajnaitik) has demanded that the Najibabad Cooperative Sugar Mill in Bijnor district begin its 2026-27 crushing season by October 20, 2026. A delegation of the farmers’ organisation met the management of the cooperative sugar mill and submitted a six-point memorandum highlighting key issues faced by sugarcane farmers and local workers.
The delegation, led by provincial vice-president Chaudhary Balram Singh, held discussions with Sugar Mill General Manager Ashok Kumar and CCO Damnesh Kumar on Wednesday. The farmers demanded that funds deposited with the federation belonging to the sugar mill be brought back to the mill. They also sought initiation of the process to regularise employees who have been working on a private basis at the mill for more than 10 years, according to applicable rules. 
The farmers’ organisation also demanded that pressmud, pesticides and other agricultural medicines be made available to farmers at subsidised rates, similar to other sugar mills. In addition, it called for employment opportunities for local youth in place of retired employees and demanded strict action to prevent under-weighing at the sugar mill and sugarcane procurement centres.
The delegation specifically urged the mill management to start the crushing season by October 20, 2026, saying that preparations should be completed well before the arrival of sugarcane. Chaudhary Balram Singh said that farmers’ problems should be resolved within a fixed timeframe before the crushing season begins so that farmers do not face difficulties while supplying sugarcane to the mill and procurement centres.
Several members of the farmers’ organisation, including Haji Hanif, Kulbir Singh, Bhopal Rathi, Vijay Singh, Himanshu Chaudhary, Safdar Sheikh, Pawan Kumar, Prashant Chaudhary, Devendra Singh, Shubham, Anmol, Moninder Singh, Nitin Kumar, Tarun Kumar, Videsh Pal Singh, Sunil Kumar, Krishna Kumar, Raju Rathi and Ajit Singh, were present during the meeting
