Sugar mills in Bijnor district have been allotted a total quota of 3.26 lakh quintals of sugar for the second half of September, up from 2.99 lakh quintals in the first half of the month. The increased allocation is expected to help maintain adequate sugar supplies in the market and keep prices stable. The new quota will remain valid until September 30, and mills can finalize sales with buyers within the allotted limit.
The Uttar Pradesh government has been closely monitoring sugar stocks at mills as well as the movement of sugar in the market. Following a sharp rise in sugar prices in August, the Centre and the state government tightened regulations on sugar sales and the stock maintained by buyers. From September, the sugar sale quota period was reduced from one month to 15 days, restricting mills from selling more sugar than their allotted quota. Buyers and mills have also been instructed to ensure the lifting of sold sugar within the prescribed period. 
According to the latest allocation, Bijnor district's sugar mills have been given a combined quota of 3,26,180 quintals for the second half of September. Dhampur mill received the highest allocation at 75,230 quintals, followed by Seohara with 79,050 quintals, Najibabad with 46,990 quintals and Changiapur with 38,190 quintals. Other allocations include Bilai 20,440 quintals, Barkatpur 14,510 quintals, Bahadurpur 29,020 quintals, Bundki 18,430 quintals, Bijnor 3,690 quintals and Chandpur 630 quintals.
The government’s tighter monitoring and regular quota allocation have helped maintain sugar availability in the market. Following the measures introduced after the August price increase, sugar prices reportedly declined from around Rs 6,000 to below Rs 5,000 per quintal. The higher quota for the second half of September is expected to support continued market supplies and help prevent unnecessary price fluctuations. Mills will receive fresh sugar sale quotas again in October.
Bijnor District Cane Officer Brajesh Kumar Patel said that the sugar mills have received their sale quotas from the government and have been instructed to sell sugar strictly according to the allotted quota and follow all prescribed rules. He added that sugar stocks at the mills are also being regularly inspected.
