UP Sugarcane Society School Teachers to Receive Skill Development Training for Student Empowerment

Lucknow, July 13, 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Government has launched a new initiative to strengthen skill-based education in schools and colleges operated by cooperative sugarcane societies. As part of this effort, the Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane and Sugar Department will organize a three-day advanced training programme for selected teachers to help them integrate employability-focused learning into classrooms.

The training programme will be conducted from July 13 to July 15, 2026, at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Sugarcane Farmers Institute, Lucknow, in collaboration with the Skill Development Network (SDN), an associate organization of the Wadhwani Foundation.

Teachers from Eight Major Sugarcane Districts to Participate

A total of 40 teachers from cooperative sugarcane society-run educational institutions across eight major sugarcane-producing districts of Uttar Pradesh will participate in the programme. These districts include Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Barabanki, Balrampur, and Basti.

The initiative is part of the state's broader strategy to improve the quality of education while preparing students with practical skills required in today's evolving job market.

Focus on Employability and Industry-Relevant Skills

According to Sugarcane and Sugar Commissioner Ministi S., the primary objective of the training is to equip teachers with modern teaching methodologies, industry-oriented skills, and employability-focused education practices. After completing the programme, the trained educators will introduce these approaches in their respective schools and colleges, helping students develop practical competencies alongside academic knowledge.

The government believes that aligning classroom education with industry requirements will enhance students' readiness for both national and global employment opportunities.

Building Future-Ready Students

Following the training, teachers will play a key role in promoting skill development, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance among students studying in cooperative sugarcane society-managed institutions. The programme aims to go beyond conventional classroom learning by encouraging practical problem-solving, innovation, and career-oriented education.

The initiative reflects the Uttar Pradesh Government's continued emphasis on strengthening vocational education and creating a skilled workforce capable of meeting future economic and industrial demands.
