Jodhpur | Sugar Times: Sustainable water management and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) solutions emerged as the key focus of discussions at the SED ZLD Jodhpur Conclave 2026, organised by Spray Engineering Devices Limited (SED) in Jodhpur. The conclave brought together industry leaders, technology experts, consultants and manufacturing professionals to deliberate on advanced wastewater treatment technologies, water recovery and energy-efficient industrial operations.
The event highlighted the growing importance of Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) as industries across India strive to improve environmental compliance, optimise water consumption and enhance operational sustainability. Experts emphasised that with increasing pressure on freshwater resources and stricter environmental regulations, efficient wastewater management has become a strategic necessity rather than merely a regulatory requirement.

During the technical sessions, Vivek Verma, Managing Director, Spray Engineering Devices Ltd., presented the company's patented Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR)-based Low Temperature Evaporator technology. He explained that the solution enables industries to achieve higher water recovery, lower energy consumption, reduced operating costs and improved plant reliability while supporting Zero Liquid Discharge objectives.
The conclave also featured discussions on practical challenges in industrial wastewater treatment, plant optimisation, resource recovery and sustainable operating practices. Representatives from various industrial sectors exchanged experiences on implementing efficient water management systems capable of improving productivity while reducing environmental impact.

For the sugar, ethanol and distillery sectors, where large volumes of process water and effluent are generated, advanced ZLD technologies are becoming increasingly significant. Efficient evaporation systems, condensate recovery and energy optimisation can help mills reduce freshwater intake, recover reusable water and comply with increasingly stringent pollution control norms.

The conclave received extensive media coverage across leading regional newspapers, reflecting the industry's growing emphasis on sustainable industrial practices and next-generation water management technologies.

As sustainability continues to reshape industrial operations, events such as the SED ZLD Jodhpur Conclave 2026 provide an important platform for sharing technological innovations that support water conservation, energy efficiency and long-term environmental stewardship across India's process industries.
