India’s Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have opened bids for the supply of 916 crore litres of ethanol for the Ethanol Supply Year (ESY) 2024-25. The bids, valid until July 2025, cover ethanol derived from various feedstocks like sugarcane juice, molasses, and damaged grains. This tender supports India’s ethanol blending goal of 20% by 2025. With current ethanol blending at 15.8%, the country aims to meet its demand of 1,350 crore litres by expanding production capacity, which has already reached 1,623 crore litres by August 2024.
