Kolhapur, Sep 8 (UNI) Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) national president Raju Shetty on Wednesday alleged that the central and Maharashtra governments have together hatched a plot to pay FRP (fair remunerative price) in installments with a view to plunder sugarcane farmers.
Addressing a news conference here upon completion of his recent ‘Panchanga Parikrama’ agitation for flood affected farmers, he targeted both the central and state governments claiming that both the governments had jointly planned to pay FRP in installments and to plunder cane farmers.
He warned that he would speak out against this issue.
The farmers’ leader also targeted the Niti Commission and Agriculture Price Commission (APC) over their alleged anti-farmer stance.
Mr Shetty said that even APC had recommended to give first installment of FRP to farmers within 14 days but the state government suggested one month’s period for the first installment.
He appealed the cane farmers to register their protest on this issue by giving a missed call on a mobile number, which he announced in press conference.
