Baghpat: Veena Kumari Meena, Additional Chief Secretary of the Sugar Industry, Cane Development and Excise Department, conducted a detailed inspection of The Kisan Cooperative Sugar Mill in Baghpat, reviewing crushing operations, sugarcane supply and the payment system for farmers.

During her visit, she toured the mill premises to assess crushing capacity, machinery condition and the overall production process. She held detailed discussions with officials on crushing targets, achievements so far, and plans for the remaining crushing season.
Reviewing the sugarcane supply mechanism, the Additional Chief Secretary instructed officials to ensure timely lifting of cane from farmers and avoid any operational disruptions. She placed special emphasis on farmer payments, stating that timely and transparent payments are a top priority for the government. Mill management was directed to clear all pending dues promptly and ensure there are no delays in the payment process. She also reviewed the status of the online payment system.
Ms Meena further stressed the importance of technical efficiency, directing officials to maintain machinery properly, improve energy efficiency and strictly follow safety standards. She noted that regular inspections and timely repairs are essential to prevent technical failures from affecting crushing operations.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare, she urged mill management to work with the same sense of responsibility. At the end of the inspection, she expressed satisfaction with the arrangements while instructing officials to take swift action on areas needing improvement. Senior district administration and mill officials were present during the review.
