Ethanol industry ready to exceed 20% blending, can reduce crude oil imports: AIDA

The ethanol industry in India is fully prepared to supply enough fuel to support blending levels above 20%, according to the All India Distillers Association (AIDA). The industry believes that increasing ethanol blending in petrol will significantly help the country reduce its dependence on imported crude oil.

AIDA stated that with the current production capacity and ongoing expansions, ethanol producers are confident of meeting higher blending targets set by the government. This move is expected to not only strengthen India’s energy security but also save a large amount of foreign exchange spent on crude oil imports.

ADVERTISMENT

The association also highlighted that higher ethanol blending will benefit sugar mills and farmers by creating stable demand for sugarcane and related feedstocks. Additionally, it will contribute to environmental sustainability by lowering carbon emissions.

Overall, the industry remains optimistic and ready to support the government’s push for cleaner fuel and reduced import dependency.
