Patna, Nov 20 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said that his government was constantly working for betterment of the sugarcane farmers.
After reviewing the progress of sugarcane department Mr Kumar said here that several steps were initiated since 2006-07 for the welfare of sugar cane farmers including increase in prices of sugarcane, relaxation in taxes over purchase of sugarcane and in the commission of zonal Development Council and added that the government also gave subsidies over sugarcane prices.
He said that sugarcane industries were promoted to improve the sugarcane production .
The chief minister directed to extend the subsidy for this year on transportation of sugarcane to the sugar mills including that of Riga sugar mill.
During presentation Secretary of the sugarcane department N Sravan Kumar apprised the chief minister in detail about the work taken up by the department including fixation of sugarcane price for
the season 2021-22, rate of sugarcane from 2010 to 2021 number of running sugar mills, their capacities and others.
