Balrampur Chini Mills Q1 net profit lower at Rs76.93cr on lower EBIT from sugar and co-generation

Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd reported -20.27% fall in total sales revenues for the Jun-21 quarter on consolidated basis at Rs1,140.44cr. On a sequential basis, revenues were up 11.88% compared to Rs1,019.36cr revenues in Mar-21 quarter, with limited impact of COVID 2.0.

For the Jun-21 quarter the revenues from the sugar business was sharply lower by nearly 30% yoy at Rs943cr while the revenues from co-generation almost halved to Rs43cr. The revenues from the distillery business was sharply higher by 19.7% at Rs267cr.

Net profit for the Jun-21 quarter was down -44.69% at Rs76.93cr. The fall in net profits was largely driven  by lower realizations on sugar due to cyclical factors and negative EBIT on co-generation in the latest quarter.

The EBIT from sugar fell by 85% yoy at Rs14.4cr while the EBIT from co-generation dipped from profit into loss of Rs7.75cr. The EBIT from distillery business was up 23% at Rs118cr in the Jun-21 quarter. Net margins for Jun-21 quarter stood at 6.75% against 9.72% in Jun-20 quarter and 23.10% in the sequential Mar-21 quarter.
