102 Acres Identified for Proposed Sugar Mill in Bihar’s Nawada

The Bihar government has taken a key step toward setting up a new sugar mill in Nawada district by identifying suitable land, bringing fresh hope to sugarcane farmers and local communities.

Around 102 acres of land have been identified in Makhanpur village, located in the Warisaliganj block. The proposal was submitted to District Magistrate Ravi Prakash on February 28 by the local Circle Officer.

After reviewing the report, the District Magistrate forwarded the proposal to the state’s Sugarcane Industry Department for approval. Officials confirmed that the land includes both government and private holdings. Out of the total area, about 12 acres belong to private owners, while the remaining land is classified as government land.

All necessary documents, including maps and detailed reports, have been sent to the state government. Once approved, the project could move forward and lead to the establishment of a new sugar mill in the region.

The move has been welcomed by local farmers and representatives, who have long been demanding a sugar mill to support sugarcane growers and boost the local economy.

ADVERTISMENT

This development aligns with the state government’s broader push to expand the sugar industry. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently highlighted plans to open new sugar mills during his Samriddhi Yatra and announced several initiatives to drive economic growth.

Earlier, the government had also issued a resolution in December 2025 to explore setting up new sugar mills across the state. Following this, K. Senthil Kumar had written to the Nawada administration, asking them to identify around 100 acres of land for the project.

Acting on these instructions, the district administration quickly completed the land identification process and submitted the proposal.

If approved, the proposed sugar mill is expected to create new opportunities for farmers in Nawada and nearby areas, while strengthening the region’s agricultural economy.
