ICAR–Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research (IISR), Lucknow will celebrate its 75th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm on 16 February 2026 at the Institute’s auditorium. The occasion will highlight the Institute’s historic achievements in sugarcane research, innovation, farmer welfare, and sustainable agricultural development.
Established in 1952, the Institute is commencing its 75th “Mithaas Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations from 16 February 2026. As part of this year-long celebration, a series of scientific programs and farmer-centric activities will be organized throughout the year.
The ceremony will witness the gracious presence of scientists, officers, staff members, distinguished guests from the agricultural sector, and farmers. The Chief Guest for the occasion will be Dr. Krishna Kumar Singh, Former Vice-Chancellor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut, and Former Member of the Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, New Delhi.
On the Foundation Day, the Foundation Day Lecture will be delivered by Dr. A. K. Srivastava, Former Head of the PPB Division at ICAR–IISR, Lucknow.
The Foundation Day celebration marks a significant initiative by the Institute to ensure that scientific advancements in agriculture reach the last mile and benefit farmers through the adoption of the latest technologies. In his message, the Director of the Institute, Dr. Dinesh Singh, stated that the celebration symbolizes the Institute’s glorious achievements and its unwavering commitment to farmer welfare.
On this special occasion, progressive sugarcane farmers and Institute personnel who have demonstrated outstanding performance will be felicitated. The program will also feature various sports competitions and a street play performed by staff members. Sugarcane farmers and former employees of the Institute have also been invited to attend the celebrations.
