Jaipur, July 11, 2025 – Rural Development Minister Kirori Lal Meena has instructed the Biofuel Authority to tighten the rules on biodiesel production in Rajasthan. He wants the Rajasthan Biofuel Rules-2019 updated to include strict penalties for anyone caught adulterating biodiesel (B-100) in the state.
A senior official confirmed that the government is working on updating the current laws and creating new ones to better regulate the biofuel industry. The Minister stressed the need for strong, effective regulations during a meeting that reviewed the work of several rural development agencies, including Mission Green Rajasthan, the Biofuel Authority, and others.
In addition to cracking down on fuel adulteration, Meena emphasized the importance of using barren land for growing non-edible oil crops like Jatropha and Pongamia, which can be used to produce biodiesel. He asked officials to come up with district-level action plans to support this effort and help boost rural incomes.
The Minister also highlighted Rajasthan’s ambitious tree-planting campaign, which aims to plant 10 crore trees by 2025-26. So far, more than 1.9 crore trees have been planted across over 50 departments. Key contributors include Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj departments, which have planted nearly 70 lakh trees together.
A joint meeting between the Biofuel Authority and the Barren Land and Pasture Development Board will be held soon to plan next steps.
