Batala, December 6: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today attacked the traditional political parties of the state and said that these parties stabbed the brave people of the border region in the back and ruined many generations of this region for their personal interests.
Addressing the gathering after dedicating the new upgraded sugar mill at Batala to the people, the Chief Minister lamented that the progressive and fertile border region of the state has been neglected by the traditional political parties due to which the region has lagged behind in the pace of development. He said that the leaders of these parties misused their power and ruined the youth of the state by trapping them in false cases. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the residents of the border districts of the state are brave people who have always steadfastly protected the unity and sovereignty of the country.
The Chief Minister said, “This land is a holy land blessed by the great Gurus and inhabited by brave and hardworking people who have long suffered the political vindictiveness of the traditional parties. This region which produced great patriots never saw development during the rule of traditional parties. It is very sad that despite the great contribution of this region, the people of this region have been betrayed by the traditional parties.”
However, the Chief Minister said that his government has been working tirelessly for the development of the region due to which this upgraded sugar mill has been set up at a cost of Rs 296 crore. He said that the mill has a capacity to crush 3500 tonnes of sugarcane and has a co-generation plant of 14 MW. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that refined sugar will be produced in this mill and it will be the first cooperative sugar mill in the state to do so.
The Chief Minister said that the mill has a target of crushing 35 lakh quintals of sugarcane during the current season and is an environment friendly plant. He said that this is the first of its kind sugar mill in India where 100 percent gas pipe line will be installed and its capacity is 14000 cubic meters per day and it will prevent pollution equal to pollution of 30,000 cars in the environment.
The Chief Minister said that the plant will process more than 150 tonnes of waste per day and produce 20 tonnes of organic fertilizer which will give a big boost to the local economy. He said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that Bahadurpur is the first village in Punjab where a pipeline has been laid to deliver bio cooking gas from house to house. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the mill is equipped with the latest technology available worldwide and will greatly benefit the sugarcane growers of the region.
The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of great pride that Punjab is giving the highest price of sugarcane not only in the country but across the world, which is bringing great benefits to its farmers. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that according to the commitment of the state government, the state will continue to lead the country in maximum price of sugarcane. He said that his government has always given the highest price to sugarcane growers and this process will continue in the future.
The Chief Minister said that the bonds of social cohesion in the state are so strong that any seed can grow on the fertile soil of Punjab, but the seed of hatred will not germinate here at any cost. He said that even though efforts are being made to disrupt the peace and tranquility of the state, but Punjab is the holy land of great gurus, peers-prophets, saints-great men, who have shown us the path of mutual love and tolerance. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjabis always strongly opposed oppression, injustice and oppression by strengthening the bonds of love and goodwill.
The Chief Minister said that the credit goes to AAP for making areas like health, education, electricity, water and infrastructure the focal point of national politics. He said that these areas are the top five priorities of his government and no stone is being left unturned. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that while other political parties have always promoted the agenda of hatred and division, AAP has given a new direction to politics by giving priority to these areas.
Referring to the verse of Gurbani ‘Pavanu Guru, Pani Pita, Mata Dharti Mahatu’, the Chief Minister said that the great Guru Sahib Ji has given the status of wind (wind) as guru, water as father and land (earth) as mother. . Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the time has come when we should adopt the teachings of Gurbani in our lives to restore the ancient glory of the state by taking the resolution to save the environment of the state. He said that the Punjab government is installing such plants to reduce pollution which will help in making the state clean, green and pollution free.
Taking a dig at the Akali leaders, the Chief Minister said that despite making big claims, these leaders failed miserably in doing good work for the good of the people. It is because of such bad deeds that now the Akali leaders are facing public anger. He said that the strength of the common man is the greatest in democracy. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that those who claimed to rule for 25 years have been sent to political oblivion by the people.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is setting up such projects to create employment opportunities for the youth. He said that the state government is making concerted efforts to ensure giving jobs to the local youth. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this will help in curbing the trend of youth going abroad in search of jobs and will make the youth an active partner in the socio-economic progress of the state.
