NSI Kanpur Celebrates 51st Convocation, Meritorious Students Felicitated with Medals

Kanpur, India – In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, meritorious students at the National Sugar Institute (NSI) were moved to tears after receiving medals for their hard work and achievements at the institute’s 51st convocation.

All of the students celebrated their success by showing victory signs. They also used video calls to show their medals and degrees to their families who were stuck in trains and buses due to the cold weather and fog.

The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Gold Medal was awarded to Lalit Mohan for the sugar technology course in the session 2020-21, to Himanshu Pandey for the session 2021-22, and to Samson Akorede Adoye for the session 2022-23, who was unable to attend the ceremony.

Himanshu Pandey, the son of a farmer, emerged as the most meritorious student, winning four gold medals and two cash prizes. In addition, 17 medals and 40 cash prizes were awarded to other meritorious students.

The convocation ceremony began with a procession. The chief guest at the ceremony was Union Minister of State Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, the guest of honor was Joint Secretary of the Ministry Ashwani Srivastava, and the institute’s director, Professor Narendra Mohan, lit the lamp. The guests presented medals and cash prizes to the meritorious students. A total of 745 students were awarded fellowships, postgraduate diplomas, and certificates, along with prizes.

In his address, Director Professor Narendra Mohan presented the institute’s progress report. He highlighted the students’ achievements, as well as the new courses that have been introduced, the agreements that have been made with foreign countries, and the training programs that are being offered to them. He also mentioned that girls are also making progress in the sugar industry. Nidhi Rajput, Shivani Gautam, and Sonal Prajapati were among the students who were awarded prizes at the ceremony.

Currently, around 100 people from countries such as Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Uganda are taking regular and short-term courses at the institute. Controller of Examinations Virendra Kumar expressed his gratitude.
