Vivek Saraogi, Managing Director of Balrampur Chini Mills, has said that recent disruptions in LPG supply underline the need for India to explore wider use of ethanol. According to him, ethanol should not be limited only to fuel blending, but can also be used for household cooking and various industrial purposes.
He pointed out that increasing ethanol usage could help reduce India’s dependence on imported fossil fuels. Saraogi added that the country has ample biomass resources, such as sugarcane and maize, which can support large-scale ethanol production.
Expanding ethanol use would not only strengthen India’s energy security but also provide significant support to the sugar industry, creating additional demand for agricultural produce and boosting the rural economy.
