SEDL Showcases Game-Changing Green Tech for Sugar Industry at STAI Expo 2025

New Delhi, July 23, 2025 Spray Engineering Devices Ltd. (SEDL), a leading clean-tech engineering firm, is making big moves to help India’s sugar and biofuel industries cut emissions and boost sustainability. The company will present its latest innovations at the 83rd Annual Convention and International Sugar Expo, organized by the Sugar Technologists’ Association of India (STAI), from July 24 to 26 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

At the heart of SEDL’s showcase is a range of technologies designed to reduce fossil fuel use, conserve water and energy, and turn agricultural waste into valuable green products. From producing second-generation ethanol and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to treating waste without chemicals or steam, SEDL is pushing the sugar industry toward net-zero emissions and a circular economy.

“It’s time to move beyond small improvements,” said SEDL Managing Director Vivek Verma. “We’re offering real solutions that save energy, reduce emissions, recover water, and empower rural communities.”

Highlights of SEDL’s Technologies:

  • Biomass to Biofuels: SEDL has developed systems that turn sugar industry waste like bagasse and spent wash into clean fuels like 2G ethanol and SAF. These not only help the environment but also create new revenue opportunities for sugar mills.

  • Smart Village Model: SEDL is promoting a decentralised, steam-free jaggery-making setup that uses MVR (Mechanical Vapour Recompression) technology. It reduces water and energy use and creates rural jobs.

  • Eco-Friendly Waste Treatment: The company’s steam-free spent wash treatment system recovers clean water and meets strict zero-liquid discharge (ZLD) standards — all without using chemicals or burning fuel.

  • Improved Sugar Production: SEDL’s new heat transfer tech cuts boiling time and improves sugar recovery, saving both time and energy. Another innovation reuses condensate to heat juice, reducing fresh steam use and emissions.

As part of the expo, SEDL will present five original research papers detailing these innovations and their real-world impact. Visitors can find SEDL at Stall Nos. 70 and 71, where they’ll feature live demos, working models, and success stories from across India.

With these technologies, SEDL isn’t just helping sugar mills cut emissions — it’s helping reshape the future of the industry.
