Farmers associated with Modi Sugar Mill in Modinagar honoured Seth Umesh Kumar Modi for the completion of sugarcane payments for the 2025-26 crushing season. The felicitation ceremony was held on Friday, with prominent farmers and representatives of local sugarcane organisations expressing their appreciation to the mill management for clearing the full sugarcane price dues.
During the programme, farmers also discussed issues related to sugarcane growers and the industrial development of Modinagar. Farmer leaders and representatives present at the event included Rajan Chaudhary, Chairman of the Modinagar Sugarcane Committee Uttam Tyagi, former Sugarcane Development Council Chairman Amarjeet Vidwan, former committee chairman Raj Kumar Nehra, former Begamabad-Budana chairman Braj Bhushan Nehra and former director Satpal Tewatia. District president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union Vijendra Singh and several other farmers from villages across the region also attended the event. 
Speaking on the occasion, Seth Umesh Kumar Modi said that sugarcane payments to farmers had been delayed in previous years due to various reasons. He thanked farmers for their cooperation and support in helping the mill overcome its challenges. He said Modi Industries is also working to revive industrial activity in Modinagar, where several industries had closed in recent years. Recalling the contribution of his father, Rai Bahadur Gujjar Mal Modi, to the industrial development of the area, he said the group is making efforts to restart or establish a new industrial unit every year to create employment opportunities for local youth.
Farmer leader Satpal Tewatia said Umesh Kumar Modi was taking responsibility for the development of Modinagar and working to restore the city's earlier industrial identity. Farmers appreciated the initiatives undertaken for the local community, including the daily free community meal service and efforts to establish a free hospital.
Representatives of the sugar mill management, including NP Bansal, Vedpal Malik, Rahul Tyagi, Shobhit Nehra and DD Kaushik, were also present at the felicitation programme. The completion of sugarcane payments for the season was welcomed by farmers as an important step towards strengthening relations between the mill and sugarcane growers.
