Gorakhpur is set to witness another major investment in the biofuel sector, with entrepreneur Pankaj Agrahari submitting a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) for setting up an ethanol manufacturing plant in the Dhuriyapar industrial corridor. The entrepreneur has sought around 25 to 30 acres of land from GIDA for the proposed project.
The proposed ethanol plant is expected to strengthen Gorakhpur’s growing biofuel and renewable energy ecosystem and create new opportunities for industrial development and employment in the region. GIDA is currently developing the Dhuriyapar area as an industrial corridor and has been actively facilitating land allotments for investors in sectors such as biofuels, manufacturing and food processing.
Meanwhile, Bihar-based entrepreneur Surendra Shah has also approached GIDA seeking five acres of land in the Sahjanwa area to establish an interior decoration manufacturing plant. The proposed facility will manufacture luxury products used in hotels, multi-storey buildings and other commercial projects.
GIDA has already allotted land in Dhuriyapar to Keyan Industries for setting up a biofuel manufacturing facility. In addition, leading dairy company Amul is also exploring the possibility of establishing a dairy products plant in the GIDA area. Representatives of Amul had contacted GIDA officials around one and a half months ago regarding land availability and the potential for setting up a dairy processing facility.
GIDA officials said investors have sought land for ethanol, interior decoration and several other industrial projects. The authority has sufficient land available across the Dhuriyapar to Sahjanwa region for setting up new industries and is facilitating land allotments based on investors’ requirements. The growing number of proposals is expected to further boost industrial investment and strengthen Gorakhpur’s position as an emerging manufacturing and bioenergy hub in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
