FARIDPUR: District Sugarcane Officer Dileep Saini, along with a team of officials, inspected the cane-growing area of Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Limited (Dwarikesh Dham Unit) to promote scientific sugarcane cultivation and improve crop productivity. During the visit, the officials inspected sugarcane supply records and interacted with farmers, advising them to adopt improved sugarcane varieties and modern techniques for monsoon and autumn planting.
The inspection team visited Pachoumi, Saidapur, Shahpur Baniyan and Khanpur villages. Senior Sugarcane Development Inspector Alok Mishra and Sarvashree Sharma, Secretary of the Cooperative Sugarcane Development Committee, Faridpur, were also present during the field visit.
At the farm of farmer Satyendra Chaudhary in Shahpur Baniyan, monsoon sugarcane planting of the Co-18231 variety was formally inaugurated using the trench method after soil and seed treatment. Officials highlighted that the use of scientific farming practices, quality planting material and proper soil treatment can significantly improve sugarcane yield and increase farmers’ income.
The team also inspected a demonstration plot of the Co-18231 autumn sugarcane variety at the field of farmer Sukhpal Chaudhary. The crop condition was found to be excellent, with officials estimating a potential yield of around 80–90 quintals per bigha. The demonstration highlighted the potential of improved varieties and scientific cultivation practices for enhancing farm productivity.
In Khanpur village, officials reviewed the sugarcane supply records and held direct discussions with farmers regarding their concerns. Farmers informed the officials that their problems were being addressed within the stipulated time. During the interaction, Upendra Kumar Upadhyay, Head of the Sugarcane Department at the sugar mill, urged farmers to adopt recommended and high-yielding sugarcane varieties. He said that adequate quantities of quality planting material of high-productivity sugarcane varieties are available in the mill’s operational area.
Mill officials Harshvardhan and Area Officer Arvind Khokhar were also present during the inspection. The field visit focused on encouraging farmers to adopt improved varieties, scientific crop management, seed and soil treatment, and modern planting methods to boost sugarcane production and strengthen farm incomes
