Chandigarh, Sep 16 (UNI) Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) President, Kumari Selja on Thursday said that a conspiracy is being hatched to shut down the Naraingarh Sugar Mills.
In a statement issued here, she said that the government does not want to run the Naraingarh Sugar Mills and their closure will impact 7000 sugarcane growing farmers of the region as well as 500 mill workers.
Mill workers are on strike due to non-payment of salary for several months. There is also arrear of farmers amounting to Rs 70 crore on the sugar mill. Now, a conspiracy is being hatched to close the mill, she added.
Selja also voiced support for the demands of the rice millers of the state.
She said that earlier the work of CMR was done under 25 per cent broken rice, 3 per cent damage, 3 per cent discolour and 15 per cent moisture, but this time, FCI has changed it to 20, 2, 2 and humidity to 14 per cent. Due to this, the rice millers will had to bear a lot of loss, said she.
She demanded that the government should give relief to rice millers and physical verification should not be done before January. Also, the condition of guarantee of honour lease should be removed.
The outstanding payment of millers should be released soon.
Along with this, the paddy of neighbouring states should also be allowed to be purchased and bonus should be released, said Selja.
