Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh: There is good news for farmers supplying sugarcane to Triveni Sugar Mill in Ramkola. The budget for the mill’s expansion has been approved. After this expansion, in the upcoming crushing season, the sugar mill will crush about 10,000 quintals more sugarcane per day compared to the last crushing season. This will not only provide farmers with more slips next year but also improve the sugar recovery rate of the mill, reported Live Hindustan.
Sugar mill officials stated that the owners were not considering the expansion process due to a decrease in sugarcane supply over the past three years. However, this year, after receiving the necessary sugarcane supply, the owners accepted the expansion proposal and approved a budget of 35 crores. They mentioned that in the last crushing season, the mill crushed 55,000 quintals per day instead of 45,000-48,000 quintals, which was still less than the demand. Hence, the need to increase capacity further was recognised, and approval has been granted. Following this, in the next crushing season 2024-25, the sugar mill will crush 65,000 quintals of sugarcane per day, resulting in an additional 10,000 quintals of supply tickets issued daily.
