High level meeting chaired by Prime Minister's Office over Sugar reforms & Ethanol production

PMO chaired a high-level meet earlier this week on September 15 on Sugar reforms and Boosting Ethanol production. The Banking secretary was part of this meeting, along with the petroleum secretary and Food secretary. ET Now reports reveal that Govt is looking at cutting down sugar exports by 20% YoY, and to reach a negligible sugar export capacity by 2020. PMO has also finalised the tripartite agreement between OMCs, PSU banks and Sugar mills for 362 projects, out of which 68 projects have may be sanctioned soon.
