Lucknow 16 Feb 2020- IISR-Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow celebrated its 69th Foundation Day in its campus with special guest honor Prof. Archana Shukla , Director of Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow who inaugurated this special day with a lecture on the topic “Management Issues in Research Institutions with Special Reference to Spirit and Leadership” and at the same time congratulating the institute for the remarkable contribution in the sugar industry.
Dr.Sushil Solomon, former Vice Chancellor, Chandrashekhar Azad Agricultural University, Kanpur presiding over the program appreciated the great contribution of the institute and encouraged other scientists to explore and research for sustainable production of sugarcane without adversely affecting the environment. As well as he also emphasized on effective crop planning of the excessive sugarcane production and discussed other measures to increase farmers’ income.
Dr. Ashwini Dutt Pathak, Director, ICAR announced the major achievements of the institute in the year 2019. He also announced that the institute has developed various technologies for crop production, protection and mechanization of sugarcane cultivation.
Principal Scientist of the institute, Dr. A.K. Sah said that last year, by adopting three techniques of the institute farmers in an area of 15,500 hectares recorded an additional profit of about 190 crores.
On this occasion, the award of the ‘Best Scientist of the Institute’ was awarded to Dr. A.K. Sah and the award of Best Young Scientist to Dr. Lalan Sharma.
And in farmer’s category, ‘Innovative Farmer Award’ was presented to Sri. Chandra Shekhar Tiwari who has been felicitated for an inspiring icon of the farmers in the state. In various other various categories, 16 other officers were honored and recognized with mementos as well.
The institute also released several publications including “Year at a Glance” and its official magazine ‘Ikshu’.
