Kanpur: A team from Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, New Delhi led by Dhirendra Kumar, Director, Department of Food & Public Distribution visited National Sugar Institute, Kanpur on Friday to observe compliance of instructions of the ministry for maintaining cleanliness in the institute premises.
The team took round of the academic area, office, hostels and residential buildings and expressed satisfaction over the efforts being made by the institute in maintaining cleanliness and ensuring proper sanitization.
Ashok Garg, Nodal Officer for Swachhta Mission detailed the team about ‘Swachhta’ awareness programmes organized by the institute in local primary schools, public places and also about distribution of sanitizers, masks and other sanitary items from time to time.

Shri Dhirendra Kumar, Director, Department of Food & Public Distribution suggested institute to continue maintaining the pace of cleanliness drive and to adopt innovative techniques for further improvement in cleanliness. He suggested that special lectures on the aspect of swachhta may also be organized for educating the students further by inviting outside experts. He also distributed towels to the contractual workers engaged in such activities.
